“Fragility”

PROFILE

I am a digital illustrator from Poland. I draw inspiration from complexity of human nature and unpredictability of life.

ABOUT PIECE

‘’Fragility" delves into the strength of our relationships in today's consumer-driven society, where disposable culture has infiltrated even our personal connections. In a world that values convenience and instant gratification, many are quick to abandon relationships at the first sign of trouble instead of working through challenges.

Drawing inspiration from Haruki Murakami and Joe Hisaishi, I harness the power of Japanese tradition and culture to guide viewers through Torii gate, on a journey from the external world to the internal one. Using the metaphor of a broken heart repaired with the kintsugi method, I emphasize the potential for growth and building deeper connections that can come from overcoming difficulties and willingness to heal ourselves.

Through imagery of a broken plate, a reunited family and a knot representing the essence of imbuing Japanese souls and hearts, from which a red crowned crane symbol of longevity, fortune and peace emerges, I highlight the beauty that can come from adversity. Just as origami and sushi-making require time and dedication, building relationships is an art that demands patience and effort. The resilience of the koi fish climbing at the Mount Fuji and the grace of the red crowned crane dancing in the snow serve as reminders of perseverance and peace in the face of challenges. By presenting these symbols in a new light, I aim to spark curiosity and encourage viewers to consider the significance of human connections and the journey towards inner wisdom.

The journey to come back home is lightened by floating lanterns with 3 circles forming a triangle - a symbol of the inner wisdom that I believe lies deep within each one of us.

Ps. Can you spot a salmon-dragon shaped map of Japan? 🙃
